Three Great Youtube Channels For Horticulture Students

in Gardening & Horticulture, A Career in Horticulture (General Horticulture) on September 18, 2018 . 0 Comments.

Horticulture is one of those subjects that feel counter-intuitive to online learning. The very practical aspect of it makes it seem a bit silly to get a distance learning course to teach you how to pot a plant instead of, say, going to a local college to be taught in person. However, if you've ever watched a cooking show and picked up a great recipe which you've managed to recreate successfully, then learning horticultural principles via distance learning with the aid of YouTube doesn't seem so strange afterall.

We've picked out four channels we think are worth watching for any horticulture student or hobbyist. They might even be helfpul for the professional out there!

Gary Pilarchik (The Rusted Garden)

What we liked about this channel was its emphasis on being to the point and as condensed as possible in their how-to videos. We also liked the channel's attempt to try save the viewer £££ (or $$$ as it's a U.S. based gardener) with videos that show what you're paying for and why.

Claire's Allotment

Claire's Allotment has been posting on YouTube for over 10 years now and has a lot of experience sharing content online. She posts roughly twice a month, so there is a back log of material to go through if you need to know anything about allotment gardening.

YorkshireKRIS

YorkshireKRIS is a channel that speciaises in growing exotic and tropical plants in the United Kingdom. As you can imagine, the climate here can be a challenge for growers who want a more unique garden. And if this is something you are interested in, then YorkshireKRIS can help show you how.

There are many, many more channels out there, completely free of charge to view! Tell us what you think of our list in the comments below - would you add any other channels?
