RHS Online Courses

Our level 2 and level 3 RHS online courses have been developed by experienced horticultural professionals, who have contributed their time and expertise to help you gain online gardening courses qualifications to succeed in the horticulture industry.

Royal Horticultural Society qualifications are almost universally recognised by employers and open many opportunities for gardening jobs in the UK and abroad. Completion of level 1 is not required and adult learners can begin at level 2.

Taking an RHS course is the ideal way of gaining recognised gardening qualifications whilst you work. So, for those already working in the horticultural industry or wanting to change careers, you can be sure you will be studying with the best, because ADL has many years’ experience in delivering distance learning education.   

The RHS Level 2 Diploma in the Principles of Horticulture and the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture, incorporate the theory-based qualification courses offered here at ADL and the practical qualification courses completed at an RHS approved college. There are two theory courses and one practical course for each of the two levels.

Our course fees include:

  • All course learning materials checked and approved by the RHS
  • Mentor support from horticultural Professionals
  • Marking and grading of up to four past RHS exam papers per course taken
  • Free student membership of the RHS
  • Free online 20 Hour course in Plant Taxonomy worth £99.00, crucial for the correct scientific identification of plants.

Each course is completed with 4-unit exams held by the RHS in February and June of every year. You will need to register in good time as an external candidate with an RHS exam centre, or email: qualifications@rhs.org.uk for further information. Please note that exam fees are paid directly to the centre when booking your place; they are not included in our course fees.

If you want to study from abroad (other than Ireland), you will need to email qualifications@rhs.org.uk to request an exceptional supervision form before applying to take the exams. This means that you can complete the theoretical courses from anywhere in the world.
