( Philip, 09/01/2014 ) Q: Do you have any available packages that include the ICB level I and level II (both manual and computer)? Do you have any exam centres in Norway? i.e. Kristiansand The course is described as a certificate, does one receive a physical certificate on completion of every individual course, or only after attaining specific levels? After completing each course you are issued a certificate from ICB (and you can also request us to issue you one once you have completed your exam).

Syllabus  -The ICB  Level II Certificate in Bookkeeping  is comprised of  3 modules:  B1, B2 and B3.  All three modules must be completed in order to be awarded the ICB Level II Certificate inBookkeeping (AfICB). This qualification is your starting point towards your career as a professional or self-employed bookkeeper.ICB Course Approval Logo

Learning Outcomes:
The three modules covers the basic principles of single and double entry bookkeeping and provides the necessary foundation in order to progress to the next ICB Bookkeeping qualification.  Both manual and computerised systems of bookkeeping principles are covered in this Level II Certificate.

Employment Prospects:   Assistant Bookkeeper   
Upon the completion of the ICB Level II Certificate in Bookkeeping qualification students will be able to carry out the role of an employed assistant bookkeeper under supervision.  They should be able to apply postings from the books of prime entry and from source documents to the ledger accounts and produce an initial trial balance. They will also be able to set up a computerised bookkeeping system, enter details of all transactions and produce reports.

Pre requisites:
No prior bookkeeping knowledge is required. However, students will need basic numeracy skills.

Tuition Costs per module:

    B1:      £185
    B2:      £185
    B3:      £280

Duration:  Allow approximately 50 hours study time for each module (B1, B2, B3). Students who have had previous bookkeeping experience will be able to complete the course in less time.

 B1 – Basic double-entry bookkeeping to trial balance

•    Underpinning knowledge
•    terms in bookkeeping (assets, liabilities etc.)
•    banking procedures
•    Understanding the different categories of VAT (standard, reduced, zero, exempt, outside the scope)
•    Calculation of business documents including calculation of VAT
•    entering transactions into the ledgers including the analysed cash book, cash transactions, credit transactions, discounts, petty cash book, two column cash book and VAT
•    making and receiving payments
•    Production and explanation of a trial balance

 B2 – Further double entry bookkeeping to trial balance
      Home /place of work based assessment to include:
•    Underpinning knowledge
•    ethics
•    legislation
•    types of businesses including simple cash based businesses
•    identifying sections of the ledger
•    accounting concepts
•    Further double entry including the following
•    Topics from paper 1
•    Day books and control accounts in a double-entry system
•    Writing off a bad debt
•    Construction Industry Scheme
•    Non-sole trader entries (subscriptions, donations, drawings of partners etc)
•    Making and receiving payments
•    Three column cash book
•    The analysed cash book
•    Production and explanation of a trial  balance

B3 –  Data entry to trial balance using a computerised accounts package
     Home /place of work based test to include the use of a computerised accounting package to include:
•    opening entries
•    entering cash and credit transactions
•    producing a trial balance
•    producing reports for debtors, creditors, bank and the audit trail

Please Note: The three assessments should be taken in the order listed above.

Each assessment will generate an accreditation notification. Successful candidates will need to pass all three assessments to gain the full qualification.

Assessment and Grading
