Marketing Courses Online

The poster depicts a stunning actress in a golden dress, she is bathed in golden light. It is a visual feast. And what is even more incredible is that this is an advert for perfume, a product that presumably you need to smell before you buy. However, because advertisers have some understanding of how the human mind works, the advert makes perfect sense. The mere sugestion of glamour and beauty the poster depicts can be enough to motivate a person to purchase the perfume.

While this, now famous, Dior advert featuring Charlize Theoron is visually striking, the marketing process cumulates in more than just the advert. For example, aside from the conceptualisation, creation and production of the advert, the aftermath is also part of the marketing process. Because Charlize Theoron is a popular celebrity and presumably because Dior can afford to, each time a new advert was released, tabloids wrote about it, increasing the perfume's visibility to a bigger and bigger audience. And in all this mix, the internet has changed the way we buy products and therefore how products and services are marketed. While the tactics of marketing might change, the principles of marketing remain. Essentially, the more you can get your product in people's sights, the more likely you'll make sales and companies such as AirBnB have hugely benefitted from social media campaigns that have marketed their brands to a wider group of people.
