Creative Writing 600 Hours Diploma
Why is it only 60 credits if it's a level 5 diploma and could I get on a top up degree course that requires an equivalent of an hnd of 240 credits?
Hello again Karl.
That is a good question.
The reason why it is still deemed as a level 5 attainment by the independent organisation which assesses our courses against the FHEQ and the EQF, is because having carefully reviewed the course content, it has decided that students will learn to the same level by completing our course as completing a HND. Typically a HND takes 2 years of full time study to complete, probably why it carries 240 credits to our 60. Our course is distance learning (non-classroom based) and so is delivered in a different way.
It is important to understand that our points are not UCAS points, but that the qualification may still be accepted by universities based on its level 5 status. Because we are not on the national framework of qualifications, we always recommend that potential students check with universities they are interested in before enrolling, to ensure that they will accept our qualification. Many students from our academy have used our qualification to get into university, but each university will have its own entrance criteria.
The course fee of £1,230.00 is a discounted upfront payment and includes learning materials, unlimited tutorial support, examinations at the end of each module, plus the final Certificate and Transcript, that are both posted to you and sent to you electronically. There are no hidden extras.
I hope that you will find this information useful.
is this course equivalent to a hnd and could I top up to a final year top up degree, of the same subject if available?
Thank you for your questions.
The Diploma is deemed to be at level 5, at the level of a HND or Foundation Degree. Unfortunately, we do not have degree courses, but past students have used our Diplomas to skip the first year of a degree course. However, I have to stress that each university will have its own entrance criteria and that it is advisable to check with any you are interested in, whether they are happy to allow this before enrolling. There are also a number of distance learning universities that may accept our qualification as comparable to a foundation degree.
