What is research?
If you have a thirst for knowledge, an inquiring mind and the skill to seek answers, then a career in research may be for you. Research professionals are on the cutting edge of developments both scientific and technological; research careers span virtually all areas of life, from business and economics to computer science and biotechnology.
Research activities comprise three broad categories:
Applied research and
Basic and applied research and development careers exist across a broad spectrum of disciplines, including the physical and life sciences (e.g., biology, chemistry, physics), engineering sciences (e.g., aerospace, computer science, automotive engineering), and education and the social sciences (economics, sociology, psychology, political science).

A career in education could be for you if you enjoy working with and inspiring people. A job as an instructor will provide plenty of challenges and plenty of job satisfaction. Instructors are required in all fields of business for example training staff on new software systems or providing practical workshops designed to improve customer service.
On the job training in areas such as health and safety has become a huge growth area with ever increasing government legislation and an enhanced awareness of corporate accountability. Companies provide in-house training to government departments such as the NHS as well as to charitable organisations and private business.
