( Dani, 24/04/2017 ) Q:

Hi, is there a reason this is a level 6 course but only gives 120 credits? Have any of your students successfully gone on to a top up degree with the points they got from courses with you?

( 04/05/2017 ) A:

Hello Dani and thank you for getting in touch.

Our courses are independently assessed and it is the organisation that does this, which has deemed the qualification to be  a 120 credit level 6 qualification.

Many of our students use their qualification with us, to go on to university. However, each university will have its own entrance criteria, so it is advisable to check with those you are interested in, before enrolling. You should tell them that the qualification you will gain through us will be awarded by an Ofqual approved organisation.

Here are two comments from previous students who have gone on to university, after completing one or more of our courses:

  • "I undertook this module last summer as I needed to cover the requirement to be accepted into a Biomedical Science Degree course. I managed to complete the coursework and exam for Biochemistry I and III modules in just over two months(200h study time). It was very intense mainly because of my deadline to be accepted into the university course. I guess it could been easier if I didn't have to complete it within such short amount of time. My tutor was great, I spoke to her from the start and explained I needed to work at a really fast pace. She cooperated and clarified my doubts whenever I needed it. Overall I had a really good experience studying with ADL. When doing distance learning study, you really need to focus and be disciplined, but it is all worth it at the end. I was accepted into my course, I've completed my first year and about to start the second one. Thank you ADL and my tutor Juliette Ivanova for your support " -  Maria R,  Biochemistry I & III, UK

  • "You should also know that thanks in part to the courses I have done with you the University of Edinburgh has accepted me to do a Masters in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health thru distance learning, and the University of Oxford have accepted me for a short course in Data Analysis in Ecology.  So thanks for the service you provide".    David Youldon, UK,  Chief Operating Officer, AFRICA NEEDS LIONS (Join our pride at:  www.lionalert.org)

We hope that this answers your question and please come back if you need any more information.

( Andrea, 07/11/2016 ) Q:

Hi, how may people have been successful in progressing in to work from one of your courses? plus do employers recognise the qualifications given?

( 30/11/2016 ) A:

Hello Andrea,

Thank you for your question.

Many students have used our qualifications to get into the career of their choice. Unfortunately, not all of them take the time to tell others of their positive experience with ADL, However there are a number of comments on our Testimonials page and reviews on Feefo. Here are the links for you to lread them.

I hope this helps you.

Agriculture (Alternative Farming) 1200 Hours Higher Advanced Diploma

Higher Advanced Diploma in Agriculture - Enhance your green credentials, with this Alternative Agriculture course online, studied via distance learning.

Alternative farming practices seek to reduce the amount of antibiotics, chemical pesticides and fertilizers used in agriculture and instead rely on more natural processes, such as nutrient cycles, nitrogen fixation and pest-predator relationships. Alternative agricultural techniques include:Older man in a cap picking grapes from the vine

  • The rotation of crops
  • The use of animal and ecologically friendly manures
  • The use of tillage systems for both soil and water
  • An integrated programme for protecting animals and crops from pests
  • The use of genetically modified animals and crops

Many farmers are becoming more green in their approach to animal and crop production, wanting to reduce damage to the environment, so by completing this online course in Alternative Farming practices, that you study through distance learning, you will be able to offer them a great deal of expertise in environmentally friendly farming techniques. Don't just get an agricultural qualification. Get one in Alternative Agriculture and be one step ahead of the field. In tandem with organic and sustainable agriculture, aquaponics and hydroponics, alternative agriculture goes beyond conventional or traditional farming practices, at the same time as using current practices that can still apply to a more environmentally sustainable way of doing things.

This is a very solid Online training program for people wishing to work in alternative areas of agriculture at a technician or management level - in positions such as a farm manager, technical representatives, trainers or consultants. Or for farmers wishing to step away from the out-dated, chemical-based farming systems.

In this course,  you will be required to complete the compulsory modules, followed by stream modules chosen from the following alternative farming industries: Crop Production, Food and Dairy Production, Aquaculture and Aquaponics, plus Hydroponics. • Step 2: Select three stream modules from your chosen alternative agricultural industry: Animal and Dairy Production, Aquaculture and Aquaponics, Crop Production or Hydroponics.
  • Step 3: Choose three modules to compliment your step 2 choices and own individual requirements.
