How To Make The Most Of Your Time In Isolation

Isolation isn’t great. You can’t see friends, go to the pub, and the news is feeling particularly apocalyptic right now. Some have likened it to the quiz broadcast from That Mitchell and Webb Look. But all we can do now is make the best out of the situation in which we find ourselves. Here are some of our thoughts about how you can turn your self-isolation time into self-improvement times.

Spend Some Quality Time With Family

Most of us have found ourselves suddenly stuck at home 24/7.  We’re spending more time in the same place than ever before. To stop tensions from rising and get the most out of seeing your family spend some time together. Maybe it’s just watching TV together, singing some songs or just being in the same place reading, drawing or playing games. Now is also the best time to set up video calls with loved ones. You can catch up on all those coffee dates that you were planning but never happened.

You Can Learn A New Skill

We’ve all got that flute lying in the cupboard that we haven’t touched in years and have been meaning to get out and play. Well now is the best time for that! Because our schedules look much more different now, we can build up learning routines that will hopefully stick after the fact. I’ve taken up sketching, something I’ve meant to do for a while now. You don’t have to spend all day pursuing these hobbies but now is an excellent time to give it a shot. Remember, learning is difficult; you will make many mistakes and failures, but the important thing is to persevere to achieve your goals.

Spring Cleaning

You may have noticed that lots of shops are stocking up on cleaning supplies. Why? They’ve predicted that lots of shoppers will start tidying their homes with their extra time. Lots of people find cleaning a rewarding and relaxing task that they can now finally get on with. You can also make cleaning a family activity; doing things together is excellent for group morale and will make the workload lighter!

Here’s a useful spring cleaning checklist.

Structure Your Time

Whatever you decide to do with the next couple of weeks, find some way of structuring your day. This will stop you from burning out and also give you an idea of what you should be doing at any given time. It’s now easier than ever to let the day slip away from you, so don’t let it.
