Everyone of us has a story inside us.  Though in the case of a professional storyteller one would find a Library. Dr Anna Fancett is an ADL Tutor for Critical Thinking, Creative Writing and several other writing courses.  Her teaching career has taken her from the UK to countries as diverse as Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, and Oman where she has taught English and Literature.
Anna has a real commitment to her student first focus. She finds it especially motivating to help her pupils reach their potential at whatever level she has taught. Dr Fancett in particular welcomes contact from her students as an opportunity to help them whenever they may get stuck and struggle, reflecting on her own experiences as a student.
And experiences she’s had. An Alumnus of Aberdeen University in Scotland, Anna studied her undergraduate, masters and PhD there. She had a particular interest in
The University of Aberdeen itself is an old and prestigious institution. Founded in 1495 it is the third oldest University in Scotland and the fifth in the UK as a whole.
She also holds a CELTA qualification (The Cambridge University qualification for teaching English to speakers of other languages) which has been an essential part of her teaching abroad. Not content with simply teaching however, Anna has turned her hand to writing new course modules and content for several providers and has also contributed to various magazines, journals and academic papers on literature and teaching during her career.
Though a London girl to start with, Anna’s long and varied international career has brought her full circle back to the UK. She currently lives in her alma mater city of Aberdeen where she continues to teach.
Dr Anna’s Top Tip
Anna says to all her students, current and prospective, to always Remember Your Reader! The most beautiful and flowery of prose is completely wasted if it goes over the head of your readers. On the other hand, especially when writing academically it’s essential that you can demonstrate your understanding of the topic by using the terminology correctly.
