Learn About Roses - 100 Hours Certificate Course

Roses course online.

If your passionate about growing Roses successfully and want to know more about the varieties and styles available in today’s market, then this online distance learning course is the right choice.

There are so many  varieties to choose from; all having different, styles, colours and growth habits.  The first step is to be begin by considering the style of rose that would best suit your situation. Styles of roses include bush roses, climbers, ramblers, miniatures, standards and weeping roses.

Roses come in a number of colours, including many scented varieties and are one of the most popular of all the garden flowers. They are easy to grow, have a good shelf life when well cared for and are designed and grown in borders, containers, over arches, pergolas and as ground plants. It is best to plant roses in the late Autumn and early Spring, because they are normally very hardy and many are resistant to the effects of frost. They can be grown in most soil types and once they are well bedded in can survive on existing moisture in the soil, although better blooms will depend on appropriate feeding.

In this Rose Growing course you’ll learn to do all of the above and to:

  •  grow roses, as cut flowers, garden plants, landscape features
  •  identify different rose species and varieties
  •  understand about rose propagation, pruning, pest control, soil management and more
  • discover opportunities to work with roses -as a hobbyist, tradesman, professional horticulturist or small business operator

The  value of their blooms however extends beyond the ornamental garden. Roses are grown for many reasons including: the cut flower trade, for perfume extraction, to harvest the hips and for rose oil. This course covers all these aspects and much more.

Learn the history of the rose, the confusing rose classification system, how to identify the different species, their general cultural needs (soils, pests and disease management and pruning), how to use roses in garden design and how to produce a commercial rose crop.
