Learn About Bed and Breakfast Management

Bed & Breakfast Management Course online.  This course is suitable for anyone contemplating starting their own Bed and Breakfast, Guest House or Airbnb.  A bed and breakfast is generally a private house offering accommodation and breakfast in a package deal. A guest house is a private house that may be offering paid accommodation only.

These are very general definitions, and could relate to any size of accommodation, and any standard of facility or service.

At some point in our lives, many of us will consider quitting our current career, to run our own B&B and dream of rustling up perfectly cooked full English breakfasts for grateful guests. Obviously owning a B&B isn’t always going to be plain sailing, but how difficult can it be? Well actually, it’s harder than you might think.

B&Bs have much more footfall than normal homes and so require continual maintenance and repairs, to ensure they are immaculate for each new group of paying guests. In addition, guests themselves are not always easy to please and are often very demanding. And then there are the hours you need to work to keep everything running smoothly and your guests happy. You are never really off duty.

Running a Bed and Breakfast establishment is not for faint-hearted; it is a vocational lifestyle career change. You will need to wake up early and work till late at night. Any downtime you get, will probably be in the middle of the day, when breakfast, cleaning, repairs, bookings and shopping etc. have all been done.

B&B is distinctly different to hotel accommodation which is not in a “home style” setting. Guesthouses and B & B’s do not have the hustle & bustle of hotels. They are able to provide a simpler form of accommodation, catering to smaller numbers of guests, and providing a more informal or even personal interaction between guests and staff/owners.

The bed and breakfast sector in the UK alone is estimated to be worth around £2 billion, so imagine what the sector could be generating worldwide! However, the marketing power and appeal of Airbnb globally, means that as a B&B owner you will need to provide excellent accommodation and customer service to compete. What better way to do that, than to acquire the administrative, marketing and practical skills in Bed and Breakfast Management, which this course provides?
