CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION

1ST JULY TO 31ST JULY 2O19

Enter our great creative writing competition just for fun or for a chance to win a free creative writing or fiction writing course worth £340.00.

Your story must include the preamble below, plus either continuation one or two. It should be no longer than 2,500 words in addition to the text supplied to begin your story with. i.e. After the words....."It all began the day I discovered time travel."

How you develop your story from there is entirely up to you, so get those creative juices flowing!

PREAMBLE

A man once remembered but now forgotten because he never came to prominence or perhaps never born, once declared "God is dead". He meant that belief in God was dead, killed by a new god developed by mankind, science.

Today I testify to the truth of those words, because God is indeed dead and I killed him, using science as my weapon of mass destruction.

CONTINUATION CHOICE 1

But I failed to foresee the consequences of my actions and how very different the world is from how it was before. I thought my actions would create a better and fairer society, one without the threat of an all-seeing, all knowing supreme being hanging over individuals and acting as the glue and lubricant of the world. How wrong I was and oh how I wish so much that I could undo the harm I have inflicted on mankind due to my arrogance.

It all began the day I discovered time travel. …………………………………………….

OR

CONTINUATION CHOICE 2

Because I changed what was to be, to what I wanted it to be, nobody in this world is aware of my fantastic contribution to the evolution of mankind as a species. Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness” and the cult film “Apocalypse Now,” leaves the audience with the impression that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Is that what happens when power is in the hands of one person? You decide.

It all began the day I discovered time travel. …………………………………………….
