This course covered lots of interesting topics, which provided a really comprehensive introduction and foundation for the subjects.

I wasn’t expecting the material and topics to be as in-depth. The Mark Ng and feedback from tutors was also of an excellent standard and really helpful throughout.

I found the material gave a really good introduction to topics with good quality questions in assignments to expand on this and develop knowledge further.  I liked the flexibility of no deadlines.

There were one or two instances with a question where I was unsure whether I had the right answer in mind but my tutor was able to clarify that via email very quickly.

I have really enjoyed these two last courses of Wildlife Management and Wildlife Conservation, which have both been very applicable to my job as a Countryside Manager (and ecologist). I have been able to use some of the research and projects I have worked on in assignments and set tasks so it has been really rewarding.

Thank you to the academy for freeing me from word count limitations and helping me apply final PBL projects to my work, so that assignments have been able to be translated into reports for my work and greatly enhanced my CPD.

I will take a short break from study but am considering starting Ornithology later in the year, and Dissertation Module to undertake more intense research on one of the invertebrates that I have studied at work as part of the UK Species Recovery Project. I am writing this from the National Trust’s

first Restore Nature Conference and have offered my experience to the national Species Recovery Development team in the NT, which should be really interesting and rewarding.

After a several years of not working and many years since I finished my University it’s been a pleasure to learn new things again!  I know what I want to do now.

I am definitely planning to study more, and probably go to University again ( or may be it will be vocational study), but now I want to focus on horticulture practice, which hopefully will happen in Australia as we are moving there very soon.

I had a knowledge of gardening through experience, books, and watching gardening media, but this course helped me to dive deeper into the hows and whys of growing plants.  I learnt so much valuable information from the course.

The course exceeded my expectations.  I studied it as a base for my career plans, but it has been so beneficial for my home gardening, too.

I enjoyed the format of the course material; having images and diagrams alongside the text helped to form an understanding of the subject matter.  I found it easy to stop reading at any point of the course and pick it up again when I had time.

I found the first science Topic challenging and this was where I learnt the most from the course.

My tutor was Susan Stephenson. Susan responded to the messages that I sent and marked, provided a good marks and helpful feedback on the new pieces that I had submitted for marking.

I found Cara to always be helpful and welcoming of any questions whenever I contacted ADL.

I was overall very happy witht he course material and its structure and I would recommend it to anybody who has any interest in horticulture.

I was working as a Project Ecologist for a species recovery project at the time, so I had plenty of opportunity to study habitats and species for the project and research for assignments was often beneficial for my work.

As with all courses, the lessons can only provide a skeleton, which can be fleshed out from research and writing off assignments. I am extremely grateful to ADL for letting me stretch the word count, to ensure that I had maximum benefit from research for the assignments, being able to answer the questions in greater depth and increase my learning.

This has been the most enjoyable course I have done through ADL, my 4^th. All learning material was relevant to the subject, as were the assignments, so it exceeded my experience and expectations.

I was permitted to change the species for some of the assignments, to make it more relevant to the UK and my learning, including the PBL.

Course was well structured and although many of the species studies were not relevant to the UK, the principles and assignments were transferable to UK species.

My Tutor, Allira May Murphy provided feedback and encouragement following submitting assignments,

and as  always, Cara (student support services) was prompt to reply and gave a good service.

I felt I needed greater freedom to apply the assignments to species relevant to my country without having to ask, which I was permitted to do, but may help other students.

Really enjoyable and useful course as a refresher in the subject.

Here is the last of the workbooks.  Thank you for your time and comments throughout the Year.  It has been difficult balancing work and study.  It has been a tough year for the business, which we can come out of.  Stepping into some study hours was a good distraction and helped clear my mind.

We made the decision to move out of London a couple of years ago (I use the time on the train commute to do the workbooks) and now have 8 acres of garden, pasture, orchard and woodland in East Devon.  I did the practical at Bicton College last year and will use the knowledge from both courses on the land.

Yes, it was. It gave me a much deeper understanding of how plants work and pushed me to learn about subjects I’d never touched on before such as plant biochemistry.

Yes, it did. This is now the fourth course I have completed with ADL and I have come to expect a high standard from the courses, this one was no different.

Overall, yes. I found this course very challenging in places, as it should be. I did feel that on or two of the questions on the assignments were written in a slightly confusing or repetitive way but I have already discussed this with my tutor Susan and with Cara.

* Where there any parts of the module/unit where you had particular difficulties? Which parts?
I struggled with the biochemistry elements of the module due to the fact that it was a new area for me.

Thank you for marking my work with such care. You are right about the layout of my final project. A research format would have been more appropriate. I’ve clearly spent too many years writing consultancy reports!!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed both parts of this Climate Science Course and learned a great deal along the way. I will, of course, continue to keep up with what is happening with our climate and weather and how it affects my garden and the critters who visit, especially the moths who visit my (live) trap and tell their own story of climate change.

I enjoyed this course thoroughly because I learned more about reptiles and their anatomy in greater detail.

The course was better than I thought it would be.  It encouraged me to research animals I might not have done otherwise.  It was very well structured and my tutor gave me very constructive feedback.  My tutor was Allira May.  I received excellent and prompt service.  I would recommend this course.

I enjoyed visiting the important and famous public gardens over the last few years and this course provided a structure to understand their historical significance.

I feel now that I have a good knowledge of the subject and a greater interest to learn more.  I have bought many books on the subject for extra reading during the course.

Just a quick note to tell you how I am enjoying the RHS Level 2 course work.

I have found the course content very well written and easy to understand, the way in which information is explained is so easy to follow!

At the moment I am reading about soil particles and for the first time I really understand the difference between a soil partial i.e. clay or sand and a mix of the two which is called loam, this is so important to understanding plant nutrition I felt I should share this with you, it is a eureka moment!  Always wondered where loam fitted into the life of soil😊

I have decided not to continue studies with your Climate Science level 3 course BSC208M, and in fact to withdraw. The tutor is Manando Mvula who is a very enthusiastic tutor, and I will email him on the study zone messaging system.

The reason is that there is too much work for me with other things happening regards my NHS forthcoming post, and I found some of the set tasks a bit difficult to do. (For example, locating temperatures of a season to put on a map of the Uk, and drawing said map, took too long!!) Your courses are certainly of a very high standard, and I am not surprised you are top of the list for the BSMS medical school’s list for foundation courses!

I am actually still enrolled on a ‘Centre of Excellence’ course provider’s level 3 course on Geology, which I will return to. I have both paper and online versions of it, and it is a bit more ‘readable’ really, but I am not looking for a qualification here!

The good news for me is that today I received an unconditional offer to study a BSc (Hons) in Geology at Birkbeck in this year if I want to!! However, managing your Academic Writing course was a really good exercise for me, and I am  really pleased I undertook it, so all is not lost!

Finally, thank you so much for being so kind and helping me with any queries and a course swop too! I felt you were like ‘a breath of fresh air’ with your customer support, and way above any other online course provider I have come in contact with!!

The course was a valuable experience because I was able to learn more about my industry and understand the work involved when planning for a large site or generally making up plans for day-to-day work.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course, the fact I was able to complete the course at my own pace and in good time really kept me focused and eager.

The course was structured excellently, I thought it was very smooth and easy to understand. I had a very organised routine going where I would send work off get it marked and returned then move onto the next one.

I think the final 2 or 3 sections of the course were challenging but with the right time and effort I feel I managed to complete those sections to the best of my ability.

My tutor was Susan Stephenson who I thought was excellent and I cannot thank her enough, she was very helpful, honest and direct with my work and pointed out any areas she felt I could improve on which helped further my knowledge of the job.

Cara was absolutely fantastic, she was always there if I needed support for anything regarding help with set tasks, account details and generally anything I was unsure about.

To be honest it’s difficult to point something out as I feel the overall experience of doing the course was fantastic, I think it mostly comes down to the person doing the work and how eager they are to complete the work.

The course was a valuable learning experience for me because it gave me an excellent background in different sciences related to the medical field. I have studied several biological and medical modules that are essential to every student trying to enrol in a medical school.

All my tutors were helpful, kind and professional. I could contact my tutors any time I want. Their response was always fast which helped me in many ways such as correcting, modifying and editing my assignments before I upload them in my ADL student portal.

The school administrative staff was always helpful. Every question, problem or a request was answered within 48 hours. A special thanks to Mrs. Cara Gage who is a student support administrator who helped a lot during that journey of one year until I reached the end of this course.

From the beginning of my application through to starting my studies, and now, having done my first exam, I have been in touch with Cara Gage.

Upon my expressing interest in the course, mid last year, Cara got in touch with me over the phone straightaway to answer all of my questions.

Since then, she has been on hand to provide answers to my questions and kind words of support when I needed them, and I could not be more grateful and impressed.

Many service providers focus their efforts on initial contact with clients, and often drop off once they have a commitment/buy in-this can be disappointing from a customer perspective, so it was really refreshing not to experience this with ADL and Cara.

I learnt a lot about tropical plants, their botanical names, and their different classifications.  I now know how to grow my own plants.

The most important thing I learned is how to be disciplined to be able to complete an online class!
The classes exceeded my expectations.  I actually learned more than if I was taking an in-person course.

The homework was intense which forces the student to do a lot of research and thus know the lesson really good.

I liked the fact that the course involves a lot of reading rather than a video when the student attention span could waiver.

The administration and the teachers always answer my emails in less than 24 hours.

The school is just great, it challenged me intellectually while giving me a lot of knowledge about tropical plants.

I hope you are well.  First of all, I wanted to say thank you for all your advice on my assignments in the RHS level 2 Theory course.  I passed all units with commendations.

I am taking on this course now as I have been asked to look at the possibility of helping to design a large garden in the highlands of Scotland for a friend of my father’s.  I have not been able to visit the site in person yet but have a multitude of videos, [images, plans from the owner, and my father has visited the site on my behalf and checked the soil texture, drainage, etc, although he forgot to bring me soils samples for pH testing.  I will be visiting the site myself as soon as  I am able to and  I will have soil samples in due course.

If it is appropriate I will be using this garden throughout my assignments when needed.  I hope that this is ok.

The course material combined with the research that I undertook in order to complete the modules gave me invaluable knowledge on the course topics.

The assistance from Cara in Support was superb as were the quality of the tutors. The structure was put together in a way that was easy to follow.

It was all straight forward. The first few assignments I asked the tutor for some guidance but once I got to grips with how to present my answers everything flowed after that.

I had 4 Tutors in Total as there were 12 modules. The standard of the tutors along with Cara in support were the 2 things that stood out most working with ADL. Vicky Protopapadaki, Mandvla, Alison and Allira have such amazing C.Vs I truly felt very lucky to be guided by them. I honestly don’t think you’d get any better Tutoring at a University.

Cara is an absolute star. In terms of help, organisation, communicating and in the end friendship you would struggle to find better customer service anywhere.

The only thing I can say is you could have a few video presentations by the tutors. They are so knowledgeable that would strengthen an already great course.

Some things I knew already but felt that it clarified what I already did. etc. and enjoyed
some of the challenges that I met within the modules.

The tutors were very good and gave me plenty of food for thought and challenges.
As I am an employment support worker for a mental health service, I often experience
other concerns, challenges, and barriers with the clients that I support back
into work or volunteering.

I enjoyed the way the course was structured and gave me enough time to research
and did not feel under pressure to complete within a certain time scale.

Most of my course I was supported by Iona Lister and the last two modules I was
supported by Tracey Jones.

Both tutors were very good and thorough. Work that I submitted was completed in good time.
As I did not feel that I wanted to continue to the next module until the previous module
was signed off.

Both gave really good feedback on my work that I presented and also information
and comment to inspire me, that I may not have thought about which I will keep
with me for my future reference.

The certificate has arrived and I feel very proud of it. Can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the course, learnt a huge amount. I have got involved with the British Trust for Ornithology, which is the organisation that does surveys on the bird life in Britain. I now hope to get more involved in their survey work, this is the direction I want to go. Thanks again for all your encouragement.

Upon completing the Interior Plants Course I was offered my dream job.  Taking this class was one of the best decisions I’ve made, the information I received was invaluable.  Thank you ADL.

I learned lots of new things about plants and how to grow them, and I have gained a lot of confidence to try things out.

You should also know that thanks in part to the courses I have done with you the University of Edinburgh has accepted me to do a Masters in Biodiversity, Wildlife and Ecosystem Health thru distance learning, and the University of Oxford have accepted me for a short course in Data Analysis in Ecology.  So thanks for the service you provide.

I’m currently studying the module Wildlife Management and I’m so glad I found ADL, since their style of education evolves around PBL (Problem based Learning), which is a learning method that really suits me.

The contents of the module are very interesting and thought-provoking. I just love it! I’m nearly finishing it. My next module would be… Primatology? or…Nature Park Management? They are all so fascinating!

By the way, my tutor is great and very inspiring, always available to answer my queries.

Although I had a fair knowledge of Bushcraft before, the course has widened my knowledge and also made me look at things from a professional view in Bushcraft.

I enjoyed doing the assignments very much and learnt a lot from them.

My tutor was Katie Freeth.  Everytime I messaged my tutor she always responded back quickly and always answered to help me understand more. I am very pleased with my grades and feedback I got.

Whenever I emailed info@adl they always emailed back politely and promptly especially when passing on my video and picture emails to my tutor.

Thank you so much, Amanda for your package: I was both very grateful and very impressed with what I received.  I have started with the Students Manual. This I found it to be very compressive and informative.  It is something that I will refer back to on many occasions.

The other manual was the complete course work for the Basic Level in Bookkeeping: what a surprise and eye opener!  I have had a quick look through and was really impressed with its content, layout and how in-depth the subject is dealt with.  I can see how ADL achieve such high exam results.

I  have worked for a few colleges and I find your support both for me as a tutor and students really good – just thought I would pass that on as sometimes it needs to be said.

Thank you so much for your advice and support for my first assignment.  It is very encouraging, as I did get a bit confused about the different concepts and terminology.  I will build on this for my next assignment.  I will focus more in the future in getting the assignments in and not get side-tracked trying to learn latin and everything and worrying that I don’t understand things completely.

I undertook this module last summer as I needed to cover the requirement to be accepted into a Biomedical Science Degree course. I managed to complete the coursework and exam for Biochemistry I and III modules in just over two months(200h study time). It was very intense mainly because of my deadline to be accepted into the university course. I guess it could been easier if I didn’t have to complete it within such short amount of time. My tutor was great, I spoke to her from the start and explained I needed to work at a really fast pace. She cooperated and clarified my doubts whenever I needed it. Overall I had a really good experience studying with ADL. When doing distance learning study, you really need to focus and be disciplined, but it is all worth it at the end. I was accepted into my course, I’ve completed my first year and about to start the second one. Thank you ADL and my tutor Juliette Harris for your support.

This assignment has been a really interesting one for me and has taken me much longer than normal, but, I’ve enjoyed working on it as I’ve never ‘attempted’ to put together a garden design before – very thought-provoking. Thing is, it’s like a painting isn’t it, how do you know when it is finished!

I have already got the job, Tier 2 Area Field Manager for Somerset and part Devon for the National Milk Records group, which is the UK largest milk recording company, who also provides services to farms to ensure their cows are as profitable as possible. I will be in charge of about 220 farms and overseeing the services that the company offers these farms. It is a job, I could never have gotten without the course ADL has provided me… so a big thank you for helping me get to where I am now.

A massive thank you in regards to the course I have enjoyed it immensely so far and have been extremely lucky to have had Juliette Harris as my tutor, who has been supportive throughout.  One module to go  and so looking forward to finally achieving my level 6 diploma.
