Online Psychology Courses
Our online psychology studies courses have been developed by psychotherapists, who have used their expertise and experience to help you learn how to be a psychotherapist through Distance Learning.
So what qualifications do you need to be a psychotherapist? Although some organisations may state otherwise, the job titles: “Psychotherapist” and “Counsellor” are not protected. Therefore, you can take an ADL course in a psychology subject and legally practice psychotherapy.
Psychology covers a wide range of areas in relation to the human mind and acquiring an understanding of what makes people think and act the way they do, is beneficial to counsellors, employers, teachers, criminologists, doctors and nurses, carers, sales and marketing organisations and workers in many other professions.
Because psychology is such an important aspect of so many different areas of society, ADL offers popular courses in:
- Abnormal Psychology
- Adolescent Psychology
- Caring for Elderly People
- Child Psychology
- Criminal Psychology
- Developmental Psychology
- Educational Psychology
- Industrial Psychology
- Marketing Psychology
- Psychological Assessment
Those working in the Medical Profession such as Doctors’ Nurses, and Physiotherapists, plus Counsellors, Life Coaches, Fitness Instructors and Wellness Consultants, can also benefit their patients and clients by completing our online Biopsychology, Neuropsychology and Psychopharmacology courses.
There is also an in-depth Introduction to Psychology, a course to help relate psychology to counselling, plus other psychology related programs such as Developmental, Learning and Behavioural Disorders in Children and Adolescents and Managing Mental Health in Adults.
The courses in this category accredited by ACCPH – The Professional Body for Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists and clinical Hypnotherapists, are accepted to be at the following levels:
- 100-hour Certificate Courses = Level 3
- 400-hour Advanced Certificate Courses = Level 4
- 600-hour Diplomas = Level 5
- 800-hour Advanced Diplomas = Level 6
- 1200-hour Higher Advanced Diplomas = Level 6
Many courses are also accredited by the CMA – The Complimentary Medicine Association. Please see individual courses for which ones are accepted by one or both organisations.
N.B. Students completing three courses will hold level 3 qualifications for each. On completion of a fourth, that can either have another level 3 qualification or upgrade to a Level 4 Advanced Certificate. Students are also permitted to complete additional courses to enhance their qualification and so their areas of expertise, right up to a Level 6 Higher Advanced Diploma.
You can gain professional recognition for your completed distance learning course by joining one or both organisations that accredit our programs. ACCPH – The Professional Body for Accredited Coaches, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and clinical Hypnotherapists, plus the CMA – Complimentary Medicine Association, have reviewed our courses and declared them suitable for the online training of Counsellors, Psychotherapists and Life Coaches.
Learn online via distance learning: With mentor/tutor support throughout, our online psychology courses can be studied by distance learning from anywhere in the World.
Get a psychotherapy qualification: ADL offers a variety of programs with the opportunity to also gain an endorsed Certificate from TQUK, a UK Government approved awarding organisation, listed as “recognised” on the Ofqual Register.
Increase your chances of getting noticed: Employers like to see initiative and self-motivation in a potential employee, so completing an online course in your own time can only help you to stand out from other applicants who haven’t done so; for example, if you can demonstrate a psychological aspect to how employees can better relate to others.
Continue your professional development (CPD): Learn how to enhance and improve the services you offer as a professional person, by learning something new to add to them. For instance, if you’re a teacher, then Educational Psychology will help you become a better teacher, or if you’re a manager, completing our criminal psychology course will help you to recognise the signs of possible criminal activity from staff and customers better.
