Permaculture Courses Online

The agricultural and industrial revolutions changed the world irrevocably and unrecognizably, making them arguably the most significant events in human history since the beginnings of agriculture. But for all these technological advances, what price have we paid? Permaculture specialists believe that industrial agriculture is not just damaging much of the earth’s natural and limited resources, it is ravaging our planet. Intensive farming may be highly productive, but its by-product can no longer be ignored. So what can be done? We need to change our attitude towards agricultural practices and adopt a global ‘permaculture’ culture. Permaculture practitioners believe that we can live in harmony and plenty, not by exploiting our planet, but by designing and establishing new, fruitful and durable practices.

Permaculture/Self Sufficiency are the world’s biggest business and the demand for job opportunities is enormous. It is predicted there will be a need for 50,000 additional agricultural professionals in this industry over the next 5-10 years. Demand for professionals will exceed the supply. Whether your interest in agriculture is hobby based or you\’re looking for more formal qualifications such as certificates, advanced certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas there is a course for you. Now is the time to train for a career in agriculture. Choose from our wide selection of courses.

• Get a Permaculture Qualification:  Whether you wish to become a permaculture teacher or practitioner, there is much to learn about sustainable agricultural ecosystems.  ADL run several online courses on permaculture that teach you, as well as the basic concepts, how to develop & maintain permaculture systems, planting within permaculture designs, animals in permaculture gardens and much more…
• Get a Career in Permaculture:  If you have a degree and you’re looking to move into a more vocationally- rewarding career, have a passion for creating areas that are self-sustaining and in harmony with the environment and a committed desire to improve agricultural practices, then you might consider becoming a Permaculture Designer – described by one practitioner as: “The earth’s crusading landscape architects”.
• Learn about Permaculture: Learning how to design and implement your own permaculture projects will bring its own reward, but not necessarily financial profit. As one practitioner says: “It’s infinitely more lucrative teaching permaculture than doing permaculture…” – but you cannot teach without first putting your ideas into practice.
• Already work in Permaculture, and need Professional Development: If you want to teach in the field of permaculture you will need, as well as professional qualifications, a good portfolio of your own projects to back up your passion. In terms of distance-learning programmes, ADL offer a Diploma in Horticulture which, as well as providing students with a good foundation in horticulture, covers the principles of permaculture. In addition ADL run an Advanced Permaculture course. Both these home study courses can open up opportunities to becoming a consultant.
