Online Hobby Courses

Experts from across our range of course disciplines have shared their professional expertise to create varied and interesting courses to help you start a new hobby or learn a new skill you can use in the home or garden.

Hobbies should be pleasurable activities
that help us to relax and unwind after a long day at work or to enjoy at weekends, after a hard-working week. They are important for our mental and physical well-being, because they help change the pace of life and allow us to “switch off” from the pressure we experience in our lives.

Have you got a passion for a certain subject and want to know more about the topic, but don’t wish to pursue a formal qualification?  Then our online interest and hobby courses can help you.

Do you dream of being self-sufficient and living the “Good Life” in the country or even in suburbia? If so, we have courses covering Fruit and Vegetable growing, Carpentry, Permaculture, Poultry Farming, Self-sufficiency and even Mud Brick construction and Stone-masonry.

Would you love to be able to write a novel in your spare time, some poetry, or a biographical book about an ancestor of a historical figure who interests you? We have courses to empower you to do all these and more!

Or are you a keen gardener wanting to develop your “green fingers” expertise? We have seasoned courses in growing many different flowers including Annuals, Perennials and Indoor Plants, or specific varieties of flowers such as Roses, Carnations, Geraniums and Pelargoniums, plus more exotic plants like Bonsai or Carnivorous Plants.

In addition to these online distance learning courses, most of our other 100-hour courses may also be undertaken for hobby and in your leisure time. It is a great way to expand your knowledge, learn new skills and have a better understanding of your area of interest. They can be studied online, or with a USB memory stick.

How Does It Work?

When enrolling, simply decide which option best suits you and your budget. Whichever option you select, you will be able to call upon your personally assigned tutor throughout, who is there to help you when required and provide constructive feedback.

So, you can become an amateur expert in your chosen hobby or interest. Whether it’s in DIY, gardening, self-sufficiency or writing, our choice of two study levels can help give you a firm understanding of your choice of subject.

Option 1 – Full course with no exam required. Option includes all your course materials, tutor support from industry relevant professionals, marking and grading of written assignments, plus a Certificate of Attainment.

If you prefer a formal qualification at a later-date during the course, then you can sit for a final exam, simply by paying an extra £15.00.

Option 2 – Self-teach with no assignments or exam required. This option includes all your course materials plus tutor support from the same industry relevant professionals as option 1. The difference is that there are no assignments to submit. Please note that no certificate is issued.

If you decide you would prefer a formal qualification for Option 2, you do have the choice to complete all assignments and have them graded by your tutor, sit for the exam and pay the difference.
