5 courses to boost your New Year’s resolutions

The beginning of a new year is a fresh chance to take lives in fresh directions.  Sometimes it’s something we’ve been thinking of for some time, but on other occasions, a spur-of-the-moment decision can lead to a profound change and opportunities we could never have imagined.  Here are a few suggestions for directions to consider as New Year’s resolutions as we cross over into 2023.

Write that Novel!

Everybody has a novel inside them so the saying goes. Perhaps 2023 is the year yours stops swimming around in your mind and gets put down on the page? Let’s be honest, however, it’s a daunting thing to write something as big as a novel.  The general going rate for a story aimed at adult readers is as many as 100,000 words!  That can be a daunting target to reach, even for those who have done it before.

For absolute beginners, though it can be helpful to get a grounding of what it takes to write a compelling book by taking a short course on writing.  We have courses for aspiring writers of fiction and non-fiction and for appealing to readers young and old.  An excellent start for any budding Hemmingway.

Beat your Fear of Snakes!

By the Chinese Zodiac, we may be approaching the year of the Rabbit in 2023, but the Year of the Snake will be back in 2025.  This of course is grim news for those with a fear of serpents. But in many cases what we fear is what we do not understand.

A course in studying reptiles such as herpetology may well be the first step in beating a lifelong fear of these scaly beasts.  Or at the very least, provide some answers on what to do if you end up stuck in a room with one.

Start Eating Right!

Okay, this is the original new year’s resolution.  Eat right, get fit, and shed the festive flab.  It’s also the one that gets broken the most.  Usually by January 10th when the last, unopened box of mince pies is discovered lurking at the back of the cupboard.

Any new change or resolution needs a commitment if it is to have any help in succeeding. Having a nutrition course to do helps keep your mind on your goal and working towards achieving the weight loss you aspire to.

Start that Business!

Every year would be entrepreneurs take up the challenge to be their own boss and build a business around themselves and their unique skill sets.  This year, maybe it’s your turn to try.

That said, starting a business can be a daunting task.  There’s a lot to consider from funding, and managing small teams, to creating viable business plans and eventually delivering a profit-making good or service.  It pays to have taken some time to educate yourself about the must-know skills and information about starting a small business before you take the plunge!

Do Something With Your Garden!

You’ve been saying for years that you’re going to do something about that sad overgrown patch of weeds and long grass you call a garden.  So do something!  Get yourself the skills and knowledge you need to make the most out of whatever open green space is available to you.

A home gardening course is an excellent starting point for learning what you need to know to make the best of your garden and makes an excellent jumping off point for further specialising.  Perhaps by planting vegetables, fruit trees of ever more exotic projects.

With so many further options to pick from, where could a change of direction can take you in 2023?
